  • Should you pay to talk to people interested in the listing?

While it is free to list your property or request for a room on this app, it’s difficult to do more unless you or the other party has paid for a subscription. One of my biggest reasons for this rating is that you literally need to pay to speak with persons that have apparently expressed interest. The push to this upgrade is not a light one and I am curious if the app is sending messages on behalf of users who favorite or bookmark something without their knowledge. This is not a “so and so likes your listing” but more of a “I like your listing, please contact me now.” Followed by a notation to upgrade in order to do so. In short, the app feels predatory. I do not know the standards of the App Store but I thinking’s these practices are worth investigating and deciding if this app is worth keeping in it.

I have been scammed by this app. I think there are people trying to take advantage of those using this app. DO NOT ENTER PAYMENT INFO!! There are so many postings for rooms on Craigslist with a photo and a website address listed on that photo. All of these adds just take you right to the app - not to any room in particular. I don’t know if roomster is involved but it appears they are trying to get their app out there in less than conventional ways. It’s a frustrating app that is difficult To use anyways. My recommendation would be that if you do connect with a possible roommate via the that you do not process any payments through the app but instead connect with them through Facebook or email and sort out all other details that way. Super frustrating app!

I wish this app would actually load and function properly, it seems like it has potential but I can’t even use it to see if it does.

I reached out to customer support for unauthorized purchases. They sent me three different templates over and over that did not answer my questions or make sense. This app is a totally scam.

When typing and saving your own little bio or whatever it glitches out some words. And I’ve had to go back in and retype them differently each time, almost like the app doesn’t register 100% of the perfect English words typed in. Kinda odd. A pain in the butt to work around cuz you gotta keep wording it differently, to find the order of what and how you type, what you want shown. If that makes sense haha. But anyway it’s pretty decent. Also been messaged by some people that just ring a fishy bell about them, so LOOK OUT for ALL CAPS MESSAGES. I don’t know what it is, but they don’t seem legit to me. My instinct is telling me to stay away from those lol. And look at their names too! And emails!! Otherwise it’s pretty handy👌🏼👍🏼

    1. Be up front about the cost and how this app works. $7.99 a week? Come on!! You'd get way way more traffic if you charged a reasonable amount, like $0.99. You should not be charging the folks looking for a room, but it seems reasonable to charge folks advertising a room. Think about how classified ads work... 2. Folks looking for a room should be REQUIRED to fill out basic info such as whether they are seeking a room for just themselves as an individual, OR POSSIBLY FOR A FAMILY, whether they actually have pets, smoke, etc., before their listing is visible. 3. The app is no longer loading after the last update (today is 3/12/17). I even tried deleting & reinstalling. Nope. It just keeps "thinking" about opening.. and then when it opens... it's just a lovely screen of white. ((Sarcasm)) 4. How do I get a refund? (I've learned Apple can get me a refund, but Roomster keeps charging me every week, even though I deleted my account weeks ago!!) 5. How do I get them to stop charging me???? 6. Where is a customer service number or email?
